Group meets Chief Minister on same-sex marriages law

They were also due to meet Social Security Minister Francis Le Gresley in relation to the Discrimination Law, which is being introduced in stages from next month starting with regard to race discrimination.

Earlier this month the States debated a proposition lodged by St Helier Deputy Sam Mézec calling for same-sex marriages to be legalised. However, Members voted in favour of an amendment by Home Affairs Minister Ian Le Marquand which delayed an in-principle decision on the introduction of same-sex marriages until further research has been conducted. Following this, hundreds of people took part in a protest rally in St Helier.
