The musical was a collaboration between local companies Drama Lab, Dance World Cup and TimpanAli Productions, who all joined forces to put on the play, a Motown-esque version of the story which was first performed on Broadway in 1975.
The production is one of the biggest youth shows to have been produced in Jersey and the director, Pippa Adams, said that the young cast had risen to the occasion on the opening night.
