However, it was not all good news as 2013 did see an increase in the number of people killed on the Island’s roads and a nine per cent rise serious casualties as a result of crashes.

Chief Officer Mike Bowron today said that he was proud that crime levels had dropped by such a ‘significant amount’, but did not want to give the impression that the police were not busy when the opposite was true.
