A report on the state of the fund says that it could start to become drained in two years, with outgoings predicted to rise to a point they begin to match income.
And it is likely that Islanders will face having to pay an increase in contributions as a result.
However, Social Security Minister Francis Le Gresley said that any rise would be gradual and phased over a period of years.
