The contest, which is the regional heat of the national Team Maths Challenge, took place at the Town Hall and saw nine Jersey teams and six from Guernsey taking part, each made up of four pupils – two from Year 8 and two from Year 9.

The winning team of Nathan Corrigan, Jonny Hewitt, Jack Searson and Patrick Claxton, will now go on to represent the Channel Islands at the national final in London in July, where they will be one of 100 teams competing.

The competition is sponsored by BWCI, who fund the visiting school’s travel. Second place went to Guernsey Grammar School, while last year’s winners, Guernsey’s Elizabeth College, came third.

The other participating Jersey schools were: Beaulieu Convent, Les Quennevais, Grainville, Jersey College for Girls, Haute Vallée and Victoria College.
