TWO charities received an early Christmas present on Sunday as more than 100 Islanders took part in the annual Santa Run in aid of the Women’s Refuge and Variety.

Dozens of people dressed in Santa costumes were joined by elves and fairies for the 5 km race yesterday morning from Jardins de la Mer along the Waterfront to Millbrook and back.

The participants raised about £1,300 in total for the two charities, which held their first joint fundraising initiative last year.
