A NEW primary school will be built in St Martin after plans were approved by the Environment Minister.

The project was given the go-ahead at a Ministerial Planning Meeting yesterday after the scheme was re-examined by Deputy Rob Duhamel. The issue has split parishioners over whether the school’s playing field should be built on, as per the approved plans, or whether the old school should be refurbished.

The project will go ahead provided Education, Sport and Culture Minister Patrick Ryan ensures that the parish football club can continue to train on the school field and that solar panels and thermal heating are given more consideration to help with the school’s energy needs.

What a dreadful shame.

Francis

It is a pity that this despoilation has been permitted.

Ally

You have to wonder why they can't leave things alone instead of, quite literally, bulldozing public opinion and culture.

Jonathan

Will the site of the old school be returned to a greenfield, or yet more houses.!
