15,000 indecent images of children

When police raided the home of Jeremy Bourke (36) on 21 February they found nearly 15,000 indecent images of children on various hard drives and 370 video files.

The Royal Court heard on Friday that the defendant – who worked as an IT technician at Appleby – immediately showed officers the computer hard drives where he had saved some indecent images and videos of the most serious category over the previous five years.

The files included indecent images of a girl aged around three years old and nursery-aged children who were bound and gagged.

Crown Advocate Conrad Yates said that Bourke had told police officers that he did not consider himself a paedophile and had completely denied any ‘contact’ offences against children, or being attracted to children.
