AN HISTORIC moment in Island sport was marked at St Peter yesterday, with Michael Le Bourgeois becoming the first Jerseyman to sign a full-time professional playing contract with Jersey Rugby Club.

AN HISTORIC moment in Island sport was marked at St Peter yesterday, with Michael Le Bourgeois becoming the first Jerseyman to sign a full-time professional playing contract with Jersey Rugby Club.

Academy product Le Bourgeois, 21 next month, has signed on a two-year deal which shows Jersey’s determination to not only develop their own players but, as they climb ever higher up the rugby ladder, to hang onto them as well.

The tall, rangy three-quarter has become a crowd favourite over the past three seasons after having made his debut in the season that promotion to London I was achieved.
