D-day looms for Nomads

Currently bottom of the Championship Division, the second tier of Island football, Nomads have struggled to attract new members this season and with a small pool of players to call on it could be the end of the road for the Jersey’s youngest club.

Formed six years ago, by a group of friends, the writing is now on the wall with a committee meeting arranged for next Monday to discuss the issue and then an extraordinary general meeting the following night to put the committee’s proposal to the membership.

President and founder member Paul O’Hara said: ‘Nothing is decided yet but I think we may have come to the end of the road. We’ve lost quite a few players and personally I’ve reached the end of my tether.

‘We disbanded the reserve team at the start of this season and we’ve struggled to find substitutes for all our matches this season; the exception being last Saturday when people turned out because many felt it could have been the club’s last game and they wanted to be involved.
