Former Muratti star Peter Vincenti helped Stevenage Borough to a second FA Trophy at the new Wembley stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The 22-year-old, who was the first Channel Islander to play a competitive match at the new venue, was half-expecting to be on the becn as a substitute but found himself playing for nearly the whole match and having chances to add to the 2-0 winning scoreline.

‘It was a fantastic day and I really enjoyed it,’ he said. ‘It’s a dream come true to play and win at Wembley and it’s something I’ve dreamt about doing since going to the old Wembley Stadium to see an FA Cup final as a nine-year-old.

‘It’s an unbelievable feeling to play there but in truth it’s not really sunk in yet. There was a fantastic atmosphere arriving on the coach and it’s only when you go out onto the pitch that you realise how big a stage you are on. I was disappointed not to have scored, too, because I had several good opportunities.’

The former First Tower United junior and St Peter FC senior had good support as his parents, Peter and Jan and his sister Catherine were among the 27,000-strong crowd.
