Jersey win women’s Muratti

Shortly after missing a fine chance by putting the ball wide of a post, McLaughlin picked up a loose ball to fire in a dipping shot over the goalkeeper for what turned out to be the game’s only goal.

Jersey played an attractive passing game and they were thwarted by some fine goalkeeping from Kayleigh Marquis who was later named player of the match to lift the Millie Sarre Trophy.

Jersey manager Tony Hoyland said: ‘We played really well but I must credit Guernsey as they always made it a battle. The better team won and for the right reasons as we had a lots of possession and we created many chances.’
