BEACH soccer in Jersey could be given a boost this summer with a visit from the current world champions Brazil.

The national team, which often includes former Brazilian international footballers, could make a stop in Jersey in August on their way back from Europe to play against the Island team and raise the profile of the sport.

But that is providing sponsors can be found to help cover the costs of the event.

Famous names who have played beach soccer for Brazil include 1994 world cup winners with Brazil, striker Romário and defender Aldair, and Brazil’s star of the 80s Zico, although organiser Will Partington would not be drawn on whom exactly the Island could expect in this summer’s team.
