AN excellent standard of play was again on show at the Jersey Primary Schools Football Festival yesterday, with referees and coaches praising the high standards of the sportsmanship.
Jersey lost 5-0 to Sutton Coldfield, but the result has not dampened their spirits as they look ahead to the penultimate day of the tournament, which features a fascinating clash against Hackney.
The highlight of yesterday’s games at the FB Fields was the match between Thurrock and previously unbeaten South Birmingham, with both teams stepping up to a fast and furious paced game – apart from when a pitch invasion from a family of ducks put a temporary halt to play.
But it was Thurrock who eventually came out on top by a single goal from Callum Jex, putting an end to Birmingham’s winning streak.
