A SECOND leg fracture in 16 months has ruled Mark Ray out of Jersey’s Aland Island Games football squad.

The St Paul’s midfielder, who has three Muratti caps, broke the tibia bone in his right leg two weeks ago – five minutes into the Saints’ 6-2 Coca-Cola Combination Premiership victory at St Saviour against Rozel Rovers.

Ray, who was put in plaster late last week after initially being told his injury was bruising,’ said: ‘I’m gutted; it’s the second time I’ve broken a leg because I fractured the fibula bone in my left leg in November 2007.

‘I’ve been working hard trying to get back into the Island squad year and hopefully this injury is just another minor set back.’
