Trinity stay a point clear after draw with Saints

IN front of a crowd of 120 at their home ground on Saturday, table-toppers Trinity FC kept their one point advantage over St Paul’s in a goalless draw against the visitors.

Although both managers stressed that this first versus second-placed Coca-Cola Combination premiership clash was ‘just another game’, to a neutral observer St Paul’s played the more fluent football and the league title has become a two-horse race.

Trinity head the table with 30 points. St Paul’s have 29. Scottish, in third place, have 23. All three teams have just four matches remaining.

‘I told the lads beforehand that I wanted to prove we were the best team and that we also played the better football,’ said St Paul’s manager Craig Culkin afterwards. ‘With a 0-0 draw we didn’t prove the first but I’d like to think that we proved the second. We lacked that cutting edge in the final third – we didn’t trouble their keeper enough – but fair play to Trinity who always worked hard. There are 12 points to play for – we can still win it.’
