De La Salle turn tables on Vic

DE LA SALLE College gained revenge for two league defeats to beat Victoria College 6-2 in the Year-10 Secondary Schools Cup final yesterday lunch time at Springfield.

And with around 70 pupils of the winning school in attendance they ‘sang their hearts out for the boys’ creating a great atmosphere as both schools worked hard on the pitch to entertain them.

Striker Charlie Petulla, a trialist with Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers this season, was the pick of the players on show with a hat-trick for De La Salle but he was run close by Victoria goalkeeper Ryan Le Couteur who had a great game, pulling off a string of fine saves to keep his colleagues in the match until the final 15 minutes.

The longer the game went on the more dominant De La Salle became and, in the end, Victoria appeared extremely glad to hear the finish whistle.
