Guernsey take United approach to fixtures

A NEW football club has been formed in Guernsey with the intention of playing in the English non-league semi-professional pyramid system.

One of the people behind the venture – named Guernsey United – is former Guernsey Football Association president Dave Nussbaumer and he and his co-founder members have ambitious plans. They intend Guernsey United to play in the Kent League Premier Division and the FA Vase from the start of next season.

Guernsey United will be coached by the current island management duo of Steve Ogier and Tony Vance and it is hoped Guernsey United will play in the FA Cup the season after next.

Nussbaumer, who resigned as GFA president last season, said: ‘Guernsey United has been created to encourage the island’s young and emerging footballers to stretch their ability and ambition to the full. We want to help these players realise their dreams!’
