Fooball:Morley ready for a challenge

The Liverpudlian, who has guided Trinity to a dozen trophy successes in five years, is the third candidate to publicly express an interest in the position vacated by Dave Matthews just over a fortnight ago.

Former Island manager Peter Vincenti – who won five senior and five U21 Murattis as well as Island Games gold in 1993 and 1997, St Paul’s boss Tony Hoyland, who won the Charity Cup this season after joining from St John, and Morley have until next Wednesday to apply for the position.

Interviews with the JFA will be held by 14 January.

Morley said: ‘I’ve spoken to everyone at Trinity and I have their support to apply for the position.

I took the Combination team into a National competition earlier in the season and I thoroughly enjoyed all the training with the guys and the build-up.

‘I’ve been at Trinity for five years and I now feel the time is right to move up to the next level.

‘I said previously you never say never and now I’ve had a couple of weeks to think things over I’ve decided to apply for the position.

‘I’ve already taken steps towards getting coaching qualifications and the next step will be the interview with the JFA.

‘I have no opinions at present, I just want to be involved and I will take up whatever challenge is put before me.’
