In gale force winds and driving rain, both managers admitted a point each was fair.

Scottish manager Bob Kearsey said: ‘I’m disappointed to have dropped two points, but it was one of those nights when we could have won it and lost it.

‘We had the wind in our favour first half and I thought we needed a couple of goals as a cushion for the second half.

We went a goal down and we got it together to go in 3-1 ahead.

‘I knew it was going to be hard second half – and it was.

Our clearances went up in the air and came back at us.

‘St Peter got their third with 15 minutes to go, but fortunately we were able to hang on.’ St Peter manager Jon Trigg said: ‘It’s an excellent result for us, especially after being 3-1 down.

I know we have players with ability but I wasn’t sure we had the ability to grind out a result from the position we were in, but the lads did it.

Worthy ‘We were very disappointing against Rozel recently.

It was much improved last night and I felt the conditions suited us and we worthy of our point.’ Scottish dropped their first points of the season and now have a three-point lead over title rivals Trinity, who have a game in hand.

Gary Freeman fired the Saints ahead after good play from Marco Vieira and Ryan Durand, the latter involved in all three goals.

Craig Leitch levelled the scores from close range after a great move and cross by Paul Duxbury from the left.

Duxbury, now looking back to full fitness after a lengthy spell out with a knee injury, then scored a brace to put Scottish 3-1 ahead.

His opener was a right-foot strike from ten yards, after Chris Andrews swung in a cross, and his second a left foot effort after he had floated past a couple of defenders.

Marcus Bailey hit a top corner from 18 yards after Durand’s cross for St Peter’s second and Freeman nodded home his second and St Peter’s third after Durand again centred into the Scottish penalty area.
