Football:Easy progress for St Peter and Scottish

The Scots beat Jersey Nomads 7-0 while St Peter won 8-0 at home to Magpies.

Yazalde Santos (three), Craig Ferey, Scott Devlin, Chris Andrews and Dave Brodie netted for Scottish and Chris Hamon (two), Dominic Maher (two), Russell Osmand, Ryan Le Cornu and Darren and Gary Freeman for St Peter.

The two victors now meet at Les Quennevais on Wednesday, 24 hours after the first semi-final between Grouville and St Paul’s.

Matches at 7.30 pm.

Scottish manager Bob Kearsey said: ‘We were sharp from the off and three goals up in 16 minutes.

Nomads chased shadows at times and the flow was interrupted by a lot of niggly fouls.

‘The early goals settled us and as a unit we got it together well.’ Nomads manager Peter Herridge said: ‘It’s a disappointing result but credit to Scottish they are a quality side.

I told my players if they gave the ball away cheaply they would be punished and that happened at least four times.

‘We showed Scottish too much respect, we were not up for the game and hopefully we will learn from our mistakes.’ Elsewhere, St Peter manager Jon Trigg had nothing but praise for Magpies.

‘They battled hard throughout and full credit to them,’ said Trigg.

‘They won a couple of corners late on and were still searching for a goal.

They showed a lot of spirit and that can only be good for their Club.

‘I was pleased with certain aspects of our game.

The scoreline in the end is not important, what was was the way we approached it and how well we played in the second half.

It’s great to see Dominic Maher playing again too and he scored a great goal from 18 yards.’ Magpies manager Kenny Addison said: ‘We were a little depleted following Monday’s win but full credit to the players their attitude was fantastic and we could have scored a late goal.

‘St Peter are very organised and we will learn from them.

We have come a long way in a year, we are a lot more organised and our football is improving all the time.’ Magpies, who only had one substitute, played the final 30 minutes with ten men after central defender Mark Holley went off injured.
