Jersey Loves Sport
Over 50 sports clubs and associations so far have created their own page on a new website which is quickly becoming a leading source for sporting information in the Island.
Launched last month, Jersey Loves Sport is hosted by the Jersey Evening Post and supported by Education, Sport and Culture and The One Foundation. The website provides clubs with the opportunity to have their own free web page where they can post results and share news and information.
Sports club officer at ESC Nikki Holmes says she’s been delighted with the uptake so far and reminds all sports clubs that they can register for a personalised page at any time.
‘We've been really pleased with the uptake from local clubs so far,’ she said. ‘And more clubs are signing up all the time as the word continues to spread.
‘I’d encourage all not-for-profit clubs to get involved, even if they have their own website. While it’s brilliant for clubs without a website to share their news, events and pictures, clubs with their own websites can simply use Jersey Loves Sport to increase traffic to their main sites by putting a link on their page.
Holmes added: ‘We’ve had really good feedback from those already signed up and the response from clubs is that they’re happy to have this available. We’ve got some super-enthusiastic clubs who are putting all of their information and results on the site as well, which is great to see.
‘It’s also very easy to use ... you don’t need to have brilliant IT skills to be able to maintain it.’
The easy-to-use site allows all not-for-profit clubs to take control of the news and information they wish to make public and could also be used to attract new members, to share information with existing members or even publicise an event to visiting tourists.
For the more adventurous, the club’s website page can even carry picture galleries, archive material, live news updates and Twitter feeds.
To sign up, clubs simply need to log on to jerseylovessport.com and follow the on-screen instructions. If any clubs or associations need assistance with the process, please call the sportsdesk on 611666 for further information.
