GALLERY: Skaters hit the Airport runway

At 7.30 am on Sunday 45 Islanders grasped the opportunity to skate down the one-mile track in sunny conditions.

Money raised from the event, which is expected to exceed £2,500, will be going towards helping to provide aid in Nepal following the earthquakes earlier this year.

John Bouteloup, the chairman of the Jersey Inline Skate Club, who organised the event, said: ‘It was absolutely amazing.

‘We had such a range of ages – children aged eight to adults in their fifties – and everyone seemed to have a really good time doing a unique activity.

‘We are a very new club and it’s great to have so much support.

‘The Airport are quite keen to do it again, so we might be able to make the skate an annual event.’
