The event saw a number of racing karts battle it out at the new Les Jardins car park at the Waterfront on a specially designed track.

Peter Tabb, organiser and Lions director, said: ‘It has been a very popular event this year and we have seen double the number of teams enter in comparison to previous years.

‘It is a good little fundraiser and I hope it continues to get bigger.’

The Jersey Motorcycle and Light Car Club won the overall race with their team ‘No Petrol Required’ and were awarded a medal each and a trophy.

As Jersey Cheshire Homes were unable to take part in the event, a team of five volunteers from the Hawksford Group raced on their behalf and a special award was given to them.

The event started with demonstration laps led by Transport Minister Eddie Noel – who had made the car park available for the event – accompanied by the Lions’ president Ian Barette and sponsor ABN AMRO Bank’s chief operating officer Andrew Pearce.
