GALLERY: Taste of success for sold-out Jersey Food Festival

  • Five days of tastings, tours and markets prove very popular
  • Festival supported by Genuine Jersey is now in its fifth year
  • Many of this year’s tours were over-subscribed

THIS year’s Jersey Food Festival has been hailed a huge success by organisers, who had full bookings for farm visits and tours.

The five-day festival, which ran from Thursday to Monday, offered Islanders and visitors a chance to see and sample the best from the Island’s farmers, producers and fishermen.

It also included tours of Jersey Dairy and La Mare Wine Estate, as well as an opportunity to forage for seafood.

It was supported by Genuine Jersey, an organisation which promotes local produce and which held a market in the Royal Square on Saturday afternoon, offering tasters of food and drink.

John Garton, the organisation’s chief executive, said the event had gone very well, with many tours over-subscribed.

He said: ‘The Jersey Dairy tour was extremely popular with 22 people booked for 20 places.

‘The David Hick evening was also popular.

‘This is the fifth year and all in all, it has gone very well.’

Jenni Liddiard, owner of Field Farm in St Lawrence, said they were fully booked with 30 visitors on a tour they offered.

She said: ‘We had people from all over, including London and Canada, looking at the lambs, piglets and chickens and they had a taster at the apple juice bar.

‘It was very successful.’
