GALLERY: Dogs on show at annual contest

The show, which took place at the RJAHS on Saturday, is now in its 27th year, and sees dozens of dogs competing in a number of categories.

Dog of the year was awarded to Guernsey dog Dreamwolves Cauz For Aplauz, an Alaskan Malamute, owned by Sarnian Nicola Brouard.

Reserve dog of the year was awarded to Schumakays A Perfect Match For Elangeni, an Afghan Hound, owned by S R Mottershaw and F Officer.

And puppy of the year went to Petwalk Moët Chandon, a Lhasa Apso, owned by P J Walker.

Many of the dogs that took part in Saturday’s competition will also be competing in Crufts, the world’s largest dog show, next month.

Steven Laffoley-Edwards, the chairman of the Kennel Club of Jersey, said: ‘The day went very smoothly and there was plenty of interest from the public who came to watch the show.

‘Jersey’s got a fair few wins as well, but Guernsey took the trophy for the ninth time out of our 27 years.’
