He finished the year strongly with three podiums from the last six races, almost taking victory in the penultimate round of the season at Donington Park, having led the opening nine laps of the encounter, and was a regular top-ten finisher throughout the year.
The 18-year-old began karting at the age of eight and quickly established himself as a multiple podium finisher, winning the Jersey Kart Club Cadet and Junior Mini Max titles in 2006 and 2007 respectively.
In 2011 he graduated to Ginetta Juniors for his maiden season in cars, ending the year 12th overall with three podiums despite having to focus on his school commitments. The following year he got his first taste of slicks and wings competition in Formula Renault BARC, contesting selected rounds, before moving to F4 at the start of last year.
Moore is now aiming for the F4 crown, and partners karting graduate George Russell at the Bedfordshire-based Lanan Racing squad, who claimed the inaugural F4 crown with Jake Hughes in 2013.
Moore’s manager, James Walker of Ignition Sport, is confident about the year ahead, saying: ‘I’m very happy that we’ve been able to confirm Struan’s deal with Lanan for 2014. I think he’s going to have a fantastic year and I’m sure Lanan are going to provide the perfect environment for him to work in.
‘It’s been great to see Struan’s progress so far and I’m looking forward to our third year of working together.’
Moore said: ‘I’m very happy to be competing in the 2014 BRDC F4 championship with Lanan and my management team Ignition Sport. It’s a relief to have yet another year of racing confirmed, especially teaming up with Lanan.
‘This year I am more focused and confident than ever, and from the outset I will be aiming to win the championship. From my perspective, Lanan is the best team I can be with this season in order to reach my targets and objectives.’
‘I believe this year will be another successful year for BRDC F4. This is the championship I want to be in because it’s the hardest in the UK for young single-seater drivers. I’m sure there will be another tough grid this year and I’m looking forward to all the hard work ahead for me and the team.’
Lanan team principal Graham Johnson believes that Moore will be a consistent front-runner in 2014, saying: ‘Struan proved last year that he is a capable race winner and podium finisher.
‘He showed continued improvement and we plan to ensure that this continues into 2014.
‘I’m sure that Struan and George Russell will work well together and we are delighted with our driver line-up.’
