ISLANDERS will have a chance to watch one of the world’s biggest bands performing live next month.

Take That are currently touring the UK with their critically acclaimed new show – and their performance at London’s O2 on Friday 19 June is to be screened live at Jersey’s Cineworld.

The cinema is one of hundreds across the UK, Ireland and Europe who will enjoy a simultaneous live broadcast of the show via satellite.

Commenting on the forthcoming live cinecast, a representative for the current three-piece – made up of Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald – said that Take That fans could expect everything from a dancing jellyfish and beautifully choreographed puppetry to a flying tandem sidecar.

‘Captured in stunning HD and with incredible surround sound, this is an extraordinary opportunity for fans who have not had access to the live show (and for the many who already have) to experience the concert in the comfort of their local cinema and ‘from the best seat in the house’,’ they said.

‘Take That are defined by some of the most memorable and spectacular live productions in UK music history and this show is certainly no exception.

‘A wonderful colorful explosion, with everything from dancing jellyfish, beautifully choreographed puppetry and a contemporary dance routine performed by Mark and Howard, to a flying tandem sidecar that soars out over the crowd, a burning globe, pyros, fireworks and indoor rain.

The band, who are the UK’s most successful live act ever, began touring their current show in Glasgow on Monday 27 April and will be taking it around the UK until the end of June.

They will then embark on a European tour in October, taking the show to Denmark, Germany, The Netherlands, Austria and Italy.

Commenting on the cinema broadcasts, Take That said: ‘This is the first time we’ve done something on this scale so it’s going to be a really special night for us.

‘It’ll be a really exciting to have so many of our fans from all over the world all together watching the show.

‘We’ll be thinking up some surprises to make it a very memorable occasion for everyone.’

The show will be broadcast at Cineworld from 8 pm.

  • The band were originally formed in 1990 and their original line-up comprised of Gary Barlow, Robbie Williams, Mark Owen, Jason Orange and Howard Donald. They were formed by Manchester-based Nigel Martin-Smith who wanted to create a British male vocal singing group modeled on New Kids on the Block.
  • Robbie Williams left the band in 1995. The four remaining members completed a world tour and released a final single before splitting up in 1996.
  • A 2005 documentary about the group led to them releasing a new greatest hits album. A four-piece Take That then announced a 2006 reunion tour around the UK, entitled The Ultimate Tour.
  • In May 2006, Take That announced that they were going to record new material together again. The group achieved new success as a four-piece, scoring a string of chart hits across the UK and Europe, while taking the number of records sold to 45 million worldwide.
  • In 2010, Robbie Williams rejoined Take That for the band’s sixth studio album, Progress. It was the band’s first album of new material to feature Take That’s original line-up since their 1995 album, Nobody Else and became the fastest selling album of the 21st century and the second fastest selling album in British history.
  • Both Robbie Williams and Jason Orange left the band ahead of their seventh studio album, III, in 2014.
  • Since 2011, Take That have set the new record for the fastest selling tour of all time in the UK with Progress Live, beating the previous record set by their Circus Live Tour in 2009. In recent years they have also won the BRIT Award for Best British Group and have been named as Amazon’s top-selling music artist of all time.
