Big chance for a potential chef

Michelin-starred Ormer, in Don Street, is looking for an apprentice chef aged between 15 and 25 to undertake training under the guidance of chef proprietor Shaun Rankin.

The previous apprentice, Tom Radiguet, who joined the team three years ago after completing his GCSEs at Victoria College, has now been promoted to demi chef de partie in the business.

The restaurant’s apprenticeship scheme encourages young talent to consider a career in the hospitality industry and the candidate will be awarded three years of support and paid training, including professional certification through Highlands College, with the chance to join the business on successful completion of the course.

Applications from school leavers are now being invited, with the deadline extended until Monday 8 August, for a starting date in September and applicants are asked to explain in 500 words why they would like to be considered.

The 500-word applications, plus a CV, which must be from locally qualified Jersey residents, should be sent to: laura@getrefined.com.
