Praise for Jersey stance on money-laundering

The report on the in-depth 18-month assessment, which included on-site visits in January last year, was published on Tuesday and concludes that Jersey has ‘a mature and sophisticated regime for tackling money laundering and the financing of terrorism’.

Speaking at a press conference, Chief Minister Ian Gorst said that it was ‘a good day’ for Jersey that had positioned the Island ‘in the top tier of jurisdictions’.

However, the Chief Minister said the report also stated that the Island should be looking to increase the number of convictions secured under anti-money-laundering legislation and ‘would expect to see more of this going forward.’
