Boardroom diversity scheme comes to Jersey

Board Apprentice Global Ltd encourages organisations – including the public sector, private companies and charities – to mentor aspiring directors by inviting the ‘apprentice’ to have a seat in meetings and gain sufficient experience in boardroom decision making to become directors themselves.

The not-for-profit social franchise was founded in 2014 by Jersey resident, financier and board director Charlotte Valeur, who saw a gap between the kind of people around the boardroom table and talented people from a variety of sectors and backgrounds who were finding it difficult to get the required experience.

Since Board Apprentice was launched at the House of Lords in London last year, the venture has grown from just five ‘host’ boards to 80 this year and expanded to Switzerland, Guernsey, the Cayman Islands and the United States, with the backing of a number of influential business leaders.
