UK gets tough on suspects of tax evasion

Pinsent Masons say the number of requests for financial date grew by 26% in 2012 as compared to 2011.

HMRC made a total of 72 inquiries regarding personal and business taxes to the relevant authorities, which was up from 57 in 2011 and more than double the 32 in 2010.

Pinsent Masons said that the figures showed that HMRC was accelerating its assault on people sheltering money unlawfully from HMRC in the UK Crown dependencies and the Overseas Territories.
